New Delhi , April 8

GLOBAL System for Mobile (GSM)-based cellular operators recorded an increase of 1.24 million new subscribers to take the total to 41 million at the end of March.

This takes the total mobile subscriber base to 52 million including those owned by the CDMA operators.

Bharti Cellular with 10.9 million subscribers leads the market followed by Reliance Infocomm with 10.3 million users. Reliance had reported disconnection by over 9 lakh users in March that took the company to the number two spot.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd is at the number three slot with 9.4 million users. The State-owned company off late has been witnessing sluggish growth due to a lack in capacity.
