14 cos attend pre-bid meet on Vizhinjam box terminal project

AS many as 14 companies have expressed interest in participating in the development of the proposed deepwater international container terminal at Vizhinjam near here.

The companies attended the pre-bid meeting organised by the Ports Department recently and received tender documents, according to an official statement.

The Government has issued a notification extending the last date for submitting tenders to June 8.

Earlier, the last date was fixed as April 20 and this has now been extended on the request of the companies, the statement said.

The 14 companies interested in the project are: Beckett Rankine Partnership Consortium, London; Afoons Infrastructure Ltd, Mumbai; Gammon Infrastructure Project, Mumbai; Maersk India Pvt Ltd, Mumbai; AR Traders, Kozhikode; SICAL Logistics, Chennai; Ital Thai Development Public Company Ltd, Bangkok; Essar Shipping, Mumbai; CMA-CGM Global (India) Pvt Ltd, Chennai; Macknight Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Mumbai; Larsen and Toubro, Chennai; Ssangyong Construction Company, New Delhi; Hili Company, Malta; and Zoom Developers, Mumbai.

The Ports Secretary, Mr L. Radhakrishnan, the Advisor to the Government, Mr Babu Jacob, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Vizhinjam International Seaports Ltd, Dr Jayakumar, attended the pre-bid meeting.
