Burckhardt plant to be opened today

Our Bureau

Pune , April 8

WITH the handing over of Sulzer India Ltd's compressor division to Burckhardt Compression in early January, the latter's new manufacturing facility, a fully owned subsidiary of Burckhardt Compression AG, Switzerland, is all set to take off.

The unit will be inaugurated on Saturday by Mr Valentin Vogt, CEO of the Burckhardt Compression group.

Talking to media persons, Mr Vogt said the transfer of Sulzer's compressor division to Burckhardt (India) was a logical step in Sulzer's continued effort to focus on its core activities and Burckhardt's effort to further expand geographically.

Further, he said Burckhardt is planning to launch a new model of trunk piston compressor in the country, and the Pune unit would also be the `Centre of Competence' for a range of process compressors from the Burckhardt's stable.
