GAIL donates mobile van to Akshaya Patra in Bangalore

GAIL (India) Ltd has donated a mobile van to the Akshaya Patra Foundation.

Mr B.S. Negi, Director (Business Development) GAIL, and Dr U.D. Choubey, Director (Marketing), GAIL, flagged off the van at Iskcon, Bangalore on Sunday.

The custom-built vehicle will be used to transport free mid-day meals to the underprivileged students in and around Bangalore city. This is one of the vehicles that will be assisting in feeding about 60,000 children in and around the city

Mr Negi said `As Bangalore is one of the 24 cities planned for city (piped) gas distribution, Akshaya Patra Foundation kitchen may be using piped natural gas by 2009.The natural gas would be coming to Karnataka with the commissioning of the upcoming Kochi RLG terminal through Kochi-Palakad-Coimabatore-Bangalore and Kochi-Mangalore Pipelines.'

Mr Choubey said that GAIL would keep its association with Akshaya Patra Foundation and other social activities.

GAIL has also associated with SDS tuberculosis and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases Hospital Authorities, Bangalore for setting up of air pollution related disease centre in the hospital premises.
