New Delhi , April 10

BANKING and finance and IT have emerged as the two most sought-after sectors by students passing out of the country's leading B-schools covered under the Eco Pulse (AEP) study conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Asscocham).

According to the survey, banking and finance accounted for 29 per cent of the total offers accepted. This was followed by IT and ITES, which accounted for 25 per cent of the total offers accepted.

The Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad, Indore and Kozhikode; the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi; XLRI Jamshedpur; Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies; IIT School of Management Bombay; SP Jain Institute of Management and Research; Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and IMT Ghaziabad were the 10 institutes tracked by Assocham Eco Pulse.

Meanwhile, marketing jobs, especially from the FMCG sector, accounted for 17 per cent of the offers accepted.

"Maximum placements in banking and financial services sector itself is an indication of the rise in the services sector which is growing at a rate 9 per cent," said the Assocham President, Mr Mahendra K. Sanghi, while releasing the AEP study.

The study also revealed that banking, finance and specifically insurance are the most attractive job creators with a sizeable 45 per cent growth from 2004 to 2005.
