THE Annual Supplement 2005 to Foreign Trade Policy has paved the way for exporters and importers of products/services to have a mechanism to fight quality disputes, and this will benefit sectors like agriculture, said Mr S.K.M. Shree Shivakumar, Executive Director of Erode-based SKM Egg Products Export (India) Ltd.
Any settlement of claims arising out of quality complaints having a bearing on the country's trade relations could be now processed through the guidance of the office of DGFT. To that extent, it is quite encouraging, said Mr Shivakumar. According to Mr Shivkumar, the 5-per cent duty credit on the FoB value of exports allowed for the poultry sector in the policy would go a long way in improving the quality of poultry feed.
The feed manufacturers could now go for duty-free import equivalent to the 5 per cent credit of additives/nutrients, which would enhance the productivity in the layer sector. This may also reduce the feed production cost, he said.
