Narain Karthikeyan urges TN to promote Chennai as F1 venue

Chennai , April 11

THE country's first Formula I race driver Narain Karthikeyan has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to support a proposal to promote Chennai as a Formula-I venue.

According to a Government press release, when he called on the Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, today he requested the State Government's support to bring Formula I racing to the city. As a major centre of automobile industries, the city was a natural choice as a venue for the sport.

The Chief Minister assured him of the Government's full support.

She told him that the State Government had written to the Centre urging that the automobile testing track and motor racing circuit proposed by it be set up in Chennai.
