THE Swiss apparel brand for children, `Milou', which recently opened a store in Chennai, plans to open 15-20 more stores in the next two or three years, according to Mr M.N.S. Nair, CEO, Milou. The investment would be about Rs 2-3 crore.

He said the company plans to open stores either directly or through franchisees and will be present in Bangalore, Kochi and Hyderabad by the end of this financial year.

The Tirupur-based Sreeja Hosieries, a part of the Rs 35-crore Wellknit Group, has been supplying around 8 lakh pieces annually to Milou in Switzerland.

In Switzerland, the `Coop' retail chain sells Milou. The brand entered the Chinese market two years ago and is supplied by Chinese manufacturers.

The clothes are mainly cotton with eco-friendly dyes and are made to European standards. The clothes are targeted at the mid-segment and are priced between Rs 100 and Rs 650, catering to the 0-12 age group.

Ms Franziska Welti, Director, Milou Switzerland, said that India is the third market the company is entering, after Switzerland and China.
