Jessop returns to black with Rs 4.82-cr net

JESSOP & Co, in a significant reversal of past trends, has reported a net profit of Rs 4.82 crore in 2004-05, against a net loss of Rs 6.38 crore in 2003-04. Net sales registered a 66 per cent growth at Rs 76.96 crore.

According to a company statement issued here today, it has witnessed a quantum jump in many areas of its operations. Road Rollers were sent to Bangladesh and an export order from China for life-cycle test of powered roof Support for coalmines was successfully executed.

Jessop's structural division supplied Girders for the Park Street flyover in Kolkata and Crane, Hopper & Warehouse for the Tata Martrade International Logistics Ltd (TMILL) at Haldia Port. The Railways has renewed its order for Jessop's wagons and coaches. 262 VU wagons and 33 EMU coaches have been produced in the year, a record unsurpassed in the past 10 years.

The marketing division has been revamped with new branches at Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore and at steel plant locations such as Bokaro, Rourkela, Jamshedpur, Bhilai and Visakhapatnam.

The order book has registered regular flow of new orders, including wagons for Tata Steel and rotating trolley cranes for the Durgapur Steel Plant.
