BANGALORE: GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Pharmaceuticals Ltd said on Tuesday that it is expanding its clinical trial data management, analyses and reporting activities in India.

The Managing Director of GSK India and Vice-President, South Asia, GSK International, Mr S. Kalyanasundaram, told newspersons the company may also expand its headcount to 120 depending on the business needs.

He said the activities of Clinical Data Management Centre, India (CDMCI) and Biomedical Data Sciences India (BDSI), both located in Bangalore will be expanded.

The new facility which has been opened as part of the expansion plan can staff 120 people. The headcount from the current level of 64 people would be scaled up depending upon the needs of GSK's worldwide operations.

The Bangalore operations were set up as a centre for data entry for the company's global clinical activities. The centre now caters to the data services for GSK's global clinical trials.

Over the past nine years, CDMCI has provided clinical operations' support to 400 clinical trials for the vaccines business of GSK.
