Rubber improves on covering buys

RUBBER prices improved on Friday with the market opening firm and gaining further on covering groups' operations to fulfil their weekly commitments.

Sellers withdrawn partially observing renewed buying interest emerged from various sectors while most of the grades moved up amidst low trading volumes. Futures were steady except for April contract quoted at Rs 58.95 (Rs 57.50). The near-month May contract was traded at Rs 60.34 (Rs 60.37), June contract at Rs 62.55 (Rs 62.42) and July contract at Rs 63.36 (Rs 63.38) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot rubber rates per kg were: RSS-4 : Rs 58.00 (Rs 57.25); RSS-5: Rs 56.75 (Rs 55.75); ungraded: Rs 56.00 (Rs 55.25); ISNR 20: Rs 56.50 (Rs 55.50); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 39.50 (Rs 39.50).
