Software Lionbridge Tech opens $ 2-m Chennai facility Our Bureau

Chennai , April 15 LIONBRIDGE Technologies, a US-based software testing company, has opened its Chennai facility with an initial investment of $2 million. It plans to recruit about 250 developers, test engineers and project managers in the next two to three months for the centre, according to the company's Chief Operating Officer, Mr Satish Maripuri. In India, the $154.1-million Nasdaq-listed company has a centre in Mumbai where about 1,000 engineering and content development professionals work on application development and eLearning courseware solutions. The Chennai centre will complement the Mumbai centre and would have a testing lab for Lionbridge's VeriTest testing division, which provides independent quality assurance and software testing services to companies, he told newspersons. According to Mr Maripuri, globally market for software testing is estimated to be $2 billion. India will play an important role in this market with clients moving to low cost countries for software development and testing. Lionbridge is also moving customer activities from high cost execution geographies in Europe to lower cost offshore locations such as India. The company is also moving some of its own operations, including processing of financial work and IT call centre, to India.
