Chennai , April 18 COCA Cola India on Monday launched its summer campaign with actor Vikram as a new brand ambassador for Tamil Nadu. The company has also tweaked its beverages portfolio to gain market-share. The company plans to extend the footprint of its national advertising strategy of the Thanda Matlab Coca Cola with Aamir Khan to Tamil Nadu. While developing the Tamil Nadu campaign, Tamil culture, stereotypes and basic elements of cinematic entertainment have been looked into. Mr Vikas Gupta, Vice-President (Marketing), said that Diet Coke, the low-calorie soft drink, is being launched in 200 ml returnable glass bottles. The new pack is priced at Rs 10 and is expected to reach a larger consumer base, he said. In the ready-to-drink hot and cold beverages segment, the company's product, Georgia Gold, is increasing its penetration in the Indian market. The company plans to install over 1,000 machines in key metros across India. With Tamil Nadu contributing to almost 20 per cent of Fanta's national volumes, the company is launching the orange drink in spin-shaped bottles. "Thums Up continues to promote the spirit of adventure and biking across the country. The four winners of this promo stand to win a Kawasaki Ninja, worth Rs 6 lakh each." On the controversy concerning the company drawing ground water at its plant in Plachimada in Perumatty panchayat in Kerala, Mr Vikas Kochar, Senior Manager, Public Affairs and Communications, said that the company would abide by the Kerala High Court directive. He said that the High Court had instructed the company to reapply to the Panchayat for a licence.
