TELEDATA Informatics is targetting revenues of Rs 1,000 crore for the year to end in March 2006. Announcing this to the press, Mr K. Padmanabhan, Director, Teledata, said the company is evaluating three acquisitions.

The company made four acquisitions in the year ended March 2005.

"We have set apart $40 million for three more acquisitions," he said. These acquisitions would give Teledata implementation skills in Oracle ERP, PeopleSoft and Siebel systems.

The acquisitions made last year gave Teledata implementation skills in software such as SAP, JD Edwards and BaaN.

Mr Padmanabhan said: "We started off with skills in developing products. Once the three new acquisitions are completed, we would have filled all the gaps that we had in implementation." The three companies for which Teledata is conducting due diligence have revenues of $50 million, $30 million and $12 million with a combined manpower of about 800. Till now, Teledata has received offers to buy around 60 per cent in each of these companies.

Excluding the acquisitions made, Teledata saw its net profit for the year ended March 2005 jump 7.4 times to Rs 75.42 crore (Rs 10.16 crore) while revenues increased 4.4 times to Rs 240.24 crore (Rs 53.63 crore).

Net profits for the quarter ending March 2005 jumped more than 57 times to Rs 35.36 crore (Rs 62.29 lakh) while revenues rose 7.7 times to Rs 106.90 crore (Rs 13.71 crore).

Including the four acquisitions made through last year, (Transworld Information Systems, Bitech Dubai, Bitech Singapore and Insoft Systems, Singapore) Teledata turned in net profit of Rs 87.42 crore on revenues of Rs 345.32 crore for the year ended March 2005.

For the quarter ended March 2005, consolidated net profits touched Rs 37.02 crore on revenues of Rs 144.93 crore.

Explaining the significant jump in numbers even excluding the benefits of acquisitions, Mr Padmanabhan said: "This is the nature of the products business. The expenses lie in product development. Once it is sold to one customer in a country, selling to others comes through quickly."

Teledata sells products in the marine, educational and utilities markets.
