NMPT takes steps to control dust pollution

Our Bureau

Mangalore , April 18

NEW Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has said that it has taken various measures to control dust pollution in the area.

An NMPT release said here that periodicity of water sprinkling on lorries has been increased. A new road has been constructed adjacent to the port compound wall, and all the empty lorries have been instructed to use that road only.

With this, the lorries need not have to use the national highway in front of the port. Instructions have been issued to cover the empty lorries with tarpaulins. It said that a mobile squad has been formed to monitor these measures.

Employees inside the port premises have been provided with personnel protective gears, including nose masks, the release added.
