Relax, lounge around, land a job

Anjali Prayag

Bangalore , April 18

FOR the `already pampered' techie population of Bangalore, here is yet another offering that combines luxury with a new job offer.

And like all premium offerings, this too is by invitation only. TVA Infotech, Bangalore-based IT recruitment firm has launched `Aspire Lounge,' a new platform that enables prospective employees meet employers of their choice and possibly walk away with an offer letter at the end of the day. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Gautam Sinha, CEO, TVA Infotech, said, "There is luxury, information (about the company and candidates) choice and speed of recruitment all at one go."

This week's Aspire Lounge (held at a lounge bar of a five-star hotel) provided a platform for six companies looking for mid-managers (5-10 years experience) in the areas of Java, MS, testing and systems software.

About 120 candidates with experience in the areas mentioned were the special invitees. Explaining the new concept in the hiring process, Mr Sinha said, "Invited candidates walk in with their cards, register, and are guided by our counsellors to watch presentations on each of the companies present at the Lounge. Then the counsellors help them with more information about the jobs and companies that may be theirs at the end of the day." It's only after this that candidates attended interviews in the company of their choice.

TVA ensures top secrecy and confidentiality in the entire process. Needless to say, company HR persons are not allowed to view candidates before the interview, said Mr Sinha, adding, "So there's no choice of your boss knowing that you are here negotiating with a rival company."

Aspire Lounge aspires to be different from noisy career fairs that are `impersonal and offer no privacy,' according to him. TVA too attempted a fair once and now has done away with it. Aspire Lounge is now targeted to be a fortnightly affair. "Every time it will target people with different skill sets. Soon, the Lounge idea will be taken to other cities such as Chennai and Hyderabad. Any city that offers a critical mass of tech population (say 50,000) will have an Aspire Lounge." Mr Sinha wants to extend the Lounge idea for top-level managers too. "For the CEOs and CFOs, we'll have a platinum lounge where interaction will be more like a discussion over cocktails and dinner," he said. Mr Sinha also plans to set up TVA's own Lounge in Bangalore soon. "Then this will be a weekly activity targeted at various different segments in the IT sector," he said.
