Strategic alliance

This refers to the article "A tango of elephant and dragon" (Business Line, April 13). The recent developments in the Indo-China relations signals the emergence of the `resurgent Asia' that Jawaharlal Nehru envisioned.

The growth rate of economy of both the countries is remarkably high. China, with its strong manufacturing sector, will find a wide market in India that it can access.

Similarly, the Indian software industry can attract foreign direct investments from China. The new strategic partnership agreement between New Delhi and Beijing will enable the two countries to play a balancing role against the monopolistic power the US in the post-cold war era.
