Trade and peace

This refers to the editorial "The business of peace" (Business Line, April 19), which talks of the decision to set up a joint business council.

However, there might be concerns in Pakistan over India taking advantage of it. Opening up of rail and bus routes is one way of dispelling such fears; this also encourages trade between the two countries.

Another good factor is that both the countries are committed to the South Asia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA), which starts next year.
