Winning hearts

This refers to the article, `The General who won hearts' (Business Line, April 20). General Pervez Musharraf deserves a lot of credit for this desirable turnabout in Indo-Pak relations.

His sartorial elegance stands in contrast to that of India's leaders. He was in effect telling people on both sides of the border: "make money, make no wars".

The people who deserve all the credit are the "Kashmiris on both sides of the border who risked their lives". The inauguration of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service is indeed a manifestation of people power.

The bus service also shows that when governments are courageous enough to lead, people respond with greater bravery.
