73 pc rise in Sona Koyo Q4 net

NEW DELHI: Automotive component maker Sona Koyo Steering Systems Ltd on Wednesday reported a 73 per cent increase in its net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2005, to Rs 6.2 crore compared to Rs 3.57 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

The company's net sales were up 27 per cent to Rs 106 crore in the fourth quarter from Rs 83.2 crore in the corresponding quarter in 2003-04.

In 2004-05, the company's net profit grew 37.8 per cent to Rs 16.67 crore from Rs 12.1 crore in the previous year. Its sales were up 26.2 per cent at Rs 363 crore compared to Rs 287 crore in 2003-04.

According to a company statement, Sona Koyo achieved an export growth rate of 380 per cent in 2004-05, at Rs 25.39 crore from Rs 5.28 crore.

The company's board of directors on Wednesday also recommended dividend at the rate of 50 per cent.
