Uttam Galva net rises 78 pc

MUMBAI: Uttam Galva Steels Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 31.1 crore for the fourth quarter of the year, higher by 78 per cent from the year-ago profitof Rs 17.42 crore.

Sales turnover during this period was Rs 549.96 crore, higher by 60.64 per cent, compared to Rs 342.35 crore in the year-ago quarter.

For the full year the company reported a net profit of Rs 95 crore against Rs 24 crore. Sales stood at Rs 2,156 crore (Rs 1,221 crore). Exports more than doubled to Rs 1,315 crore (Rs 632 crore). Apart from exports, the company's shift to value-added products helped it to improve its performance.

The company's expansion plans include the commissioning of its latest 6-HI reversible cold rolling mill. This will increase its cold rolling capacity up by 50 per cent to 7,50,000 tonnes per annum.
