Bangalore , April 20

HUNGAMA TV, the first 24-hour Hindi channel for kids, is launching a slew of programmes for the 4-14 year-olds this summer.

Announcing this at a press conference here, Mr Ronnie Screwvala, CEO, UTV, said that this year would be an eventful one for the channel on the programming and marketing front.

"Our aim is to be a mainline general entertainment channel for the 4-14 year-olds rather than a niche channel," he said.

Among the new programmes that are to hit the channel this summer are: `Full Toss,' the cricket game show which will be brought to life with Hungama TV Full Toss Cricket Hungama Series. These league matches, to be played across the country, will test the country's under-14 cricketing talent.

Hungama TV, which has an all-kids board of directors, influencing the programming content has launched its hunt to get talented under-14s to constitute the new board. "On the basis of the current Hungama TV captains, a number of animation shows like Doraemon and Sonic X. are being introduced," Mr Screwvala said.

Also on the cards are screening of Indian and international movies on weekends.

Hungama TV, backed by the entertainment company UTV, was launched on September 26, 2004.
