Spices & Condiments Campco to buy arecanut under market intervention scheme of Karnataka Govt Our Bureau
Mangalore , April 20 CAMPCO Ltd will purchase white and red varieties of arecanut under the market intervention scheme of the State Government from April 25. A Campco release said on Wednesday that of the Rs 10 crore earmarked for the scheme, the State Government has released Rs 4 crore. Campco is the nodal agency for implementing the scheme. A grower can sell a maximum of five quintals of arecanut to Campco under the scheme. The release said that support prices of Rs 60 a kg for white variety and Rs 85 a kg for red variety would be given for fair average quality arecanut. The scheme will be in force either till June 15 or till the disbursement of the amount earmarked.
The release also said that Campco will purchase arecanut in select Government-designated branches. The branches are Baikampady, Puttur, Vittal, Sullia, Belthangady, Padpinangady, Uppinangady, Mudipu, Alangar and Adyanadka in Dakshina Kannada district; Kundapur and Karkal in Udupi district; Sirsi, Kumta, Honnavar, Yellapur and Siddapur in Uttara Kannada district; Shimoga, Sagar, Soraba, Hosanagar and Thirthalli in Shimoga district; and Birur and Koppa in Chikmagalur district.
