Airlines Travel agents call off AI tickets sale suspension Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 20 THE Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) and the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) have decided to withdraw their call to suspend sale of Air India tickets . The agents had decided to suspend the sale of AI tickets from April 1 after the airline announced that it would be cutting back on agents' commission from 7 per cent to 5 per cent. Several leading international airlines, including British Airways, followed in AI's foot steps and announced a reduction in commission to travel agents. When contacted, the TAAI President, Mr Balbir S. Mayal, said that the notice issued earlier had been withdrawn for a while. "We have given certain proposals to Air India. We would like to give them time to consider them. We will meet with the airline again in the next few days and find an amicable solution," he said.
