Tea prices decline at Coonoor auction

P.S. Sundar

Coonoor , April 21

PRICES shed once again this week at the auctions of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) when the postponed portions of the Sale No: 15, which was disrupted last week owing to the technical snags in the e-auctions, was held.

The increased volume of 12.17 lakh kg offered for sale could not elicit matching demand for high bids. Only around 25,000 kg could be sold for more than Rs 60 a kg.

Although most of the 8.8 lakh kg of leaf grades on offer managed to remain steady with some posting marginal increases over the previous week, the bulk of the dust grades totalling 3.37 lakh kg fetched lower prices.
