THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Coffee and tea plantations will continue to be exempted from both agricultural income-tax and plantation tax through this year, according to the Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy.

An official spokesman quoted the Chief Minister as telling a meeting of the Plantation Standing Committee held here on Wednesday that sustained efforts by the State Government had succeeded in resuming operations of some plantations that have been lying closed.

Mr Chandy emphasised that no efforts would be spared to ensure that the remaining ones also got going at the earliest.
