Natural Search opens India centre

Bangalore , April 21

NATURAL Search Solutions, the UK-based company specialising in Internet marketing, has announced the setting up of its India operations. Bangalore will be the operational centre and other facilities will support both the search and the product development teams that will be based out of Bangalore, said Mr Fintan O'Rourke, CEO.

The company plans to invest up to $3 million and take its headcount in India to about 200 people in the next couple of years. Natural Search will hire people in India who will audit the software that participates in the bid process of companies such as Google and Overture.

Commenting on the launch of India operations, Mr O'Rourke said, "The foundations laid in India will enable our company to obtain, maintain and retain the competitive edge in the online marketplace and we hope to be firmly positioned to take advantage of the predicted $7 billion pay-per-click spend by 2005." Natural Search handles an aggregate spend of around $1.5 million a month across the major search engines. The long-term growth plan for the company is to be one of the largest one-stop solution provider for all Internet marketing needs, Mr O'Rourke said, adding that its Indian operations would drive that growth.

"We have also developed a service offering which acts as a reporting tool for clients letting them determine the levels of unwanted or fraudulent traffic to their sites when they are paying service providers on a pay-per-click basis - we can save clients up to 25 per cent of their online marketing spend." Natural Search also plans to target finance travel and FMCG companies in India with its services.

"Search engine bid software in the market allow companies to change their bids to be in the top slot once every hour which means they have control over their positioning in an online search result only 24 minutes of the day. We think they should be able to get more for their money and that is what our offering is about," Mr O' Rourke said.
