The Hindu Business Line : Rubber prices unchanged as sellers keep a low profile

PHYSICAL rubber prices were quoted almost unchanged on Monday. Sellers were keeping a low profile but buyers preferred to procure the narrow arrivals at the running rates.

A tyre group was reported to be buying sheet rubber at Rs 59.50 a kg expecting further fall in the availability of the raw material. RSS 4 closed steady at Rs 59.25 at Kottayam and improved by 25 paise to Rs 59.50 at Kochi.

The futures market turned better on fresh buying with moderate volumes. The May contract for RSS 4 was traded at Rs 60.30 (Rs 59.96), June at Rs 62.40 (Rs 61.82), July at Rs 63.30 (Rs 62.86) and August at Rs 62.70 (Rs 62.40) per kg.

RSS 3 was steady at Rs 57.44 at Bangkok and 141.8 yen at TOCOM.

The spot market rates per kg on Monday were as follows:

RSS-4: Rs 59.25 (Rs 59.25), RSS-5: Rs 58.25 (Rs 58.50), ungraded: Rs 57.50 (Rs 57.50), ISNR 20: Rs 57.50 (Rs 57.75) and latex 60%: Rs 39.50 (Rs 39.50).
