He later visited the fasting Telugu Desam leader, Ms N. Rajakumari, opposite the collectorate. Ms Rajakumari has been on hunger strike since Friday, demanding that the Markfed pay a price of Rs 3,000 per quintal of chilli. Currently, Markfed is procuring chilli at Rs. 2,300 a quintal. Mr Naidu said the Congress Government was not responsive to the needs of farmers, especially chilli farmers, and it was merely paying them lip service.
