Pepsi top in brand recall: Survey

Our Bureau

New Delhi , April 25

PEPSI has edged out Sony as the most recalled brand by urban consumers across India over the last quarter, according to market research firm Indicus Analytics.

Sony has been pushed to the third position within three months in terms of top-of-the-mind recall by consumers.

The survey found that Pepsi advertisements were also the most recalled ads by consumers. Interestingly, ads for Coke were the second most recalled.

However, on brand recall Coke could move up only marginally to the 12th spot (from 15th the last quarter).

Tata continues to hold the No 2 slot in terms of top-of-the-mind recall.

In yet another surprise, Cadbury has moved several notches up in terms of recall, from 17th in January to eighth in April, according to Indicus.

Tata, Maruti and Raymond continue to be the three Indian brands in the top 10 ranking on consumer recall.

Indicus said that when it asked men and women to name the most recalled brand, Pepsi emerged the favourite of men, while women voted for Lakme.

The survey, which was conducted by Indicus Analytics in the second half of March, covered over 34,000 urban Indian consumers.

It is part of the firm's quarterly monitor of lifestyle, brand and advertising preferences of urban consumers called Indicus Consumer Tracker. It tracks brand and ad recall of consumers for 32 specific product categories as well.
