MRPL 2004-05 net up 85% at Rs 850 cr

MANGALORE Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC), has recorded a net profit of Rs 850 crore during 2004-05 against Rs 459 crore in 2003-04, registering a growth of 85 per cent.

A company release said here on Monday that MRPL posted best-ever operational and financial results for 2004-05.

As per the estimated unaudited financial results for 2004-05, the refinery recorded a turnover of Rs 20,650 crore, up 64 per cent, over Rs 12,612 crore in 2003-04.

It processed 11.85 million tonnes (10.05 mt) of crude in 2004-05, registering a growth of 18 per cent. The nameplate capacity of the refinery is 9.69 mt per year.

As evaluated by the Centre for High Technology under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, MRPL leads all public sector refineries in capacity utilisation and energy efficiency.

During 2004-05, its export realisation was Rs 6,186 crore, up 38 per cent, against Rs 4,477 crore in the previous year.
