Our Bureau

Chennai , April 27

ABOUT 90 per cent of the first batch of management graduates passing out of the Chennai-based Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM) has been placed, according to Professor Bala V. Balachandran, Founder and Honorary Dean, GLIM. The remaining students will be placed in a week's time, he said.

The main recruiters after Godrej are the information technology companies Infosys, TCS, HCL and Satyam. The other companies where students have been placed are Tata Motors, Murugappa Group and TVS Group to name a few. Companies from Dubai and US have also shown interest.

The salaries, which have been offered, range from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 14 lakh per year depending on the prior experience of the candidate. The average salary is about Rs 5.5 lakh but the final average when all the students are placed would be around Rs 7 lakh, he said.

Mr Godrej said that what was missing earlier was the international experience in management education. GLIM tries to bring in quality education at an affordable price.

Prof. Balachandran said that the institute had quality-visiting faculty from well-known international universities.
