I-T collections short of target in AP

HYDERABAD: The total income-tax collections in Tanuku of West Godavari district and Rajahmundry in East West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during the financial year 2004-05 are Rs 18 crore and Rs 50.21 crore, respectively.

The collections, however, fell below the targets set by the I-T Department, which were Rs 19.8 crore and Rs 54 crore, respectively for the financial year, according to an official statement. In terms of performance, the collections were quite high compared with the figures for fiscal 2003-04, wherein the department could net Rs 14.46 crore and Rs 47.12 crore, respectively.
