RESEARCH programmes in agriculture should be need-based, market-oriented, and must focus on food and environment safety, according to Mr Vijay Sardana, Executive Director, Centre for International Trade in Agriculture and Agro-based Industries (CITA), New Delhi.

Speaking at a two-day seminar jointly organised by CITA and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), he said the future strategy should be to strengthen prioritisation, monitoring and evaluation of investments in research programmes.

The Incharge Director, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, here, Dr T. Balaguru, while inaugurating the meet asked scientists to become aware of Intellectual Property Rights-related issues.
