SME sector `will benefit from credit policy'

Coimbatore , April 29

THE RBI Governor's assertion that the apex bank would explore modalities to meet the growing financial needs of the SMEs, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region, perceives that it would give the much needed fillip for this sector.

Hailing the RBI's Credit Policy, the CII Chairperson Ms Nandini Rangaswamy, said the Chamber was looking forward to the other recommendations of the Working Group on Flow of Credit for the SSI sector.

"The lack of information on the creditworthiness of the SME applicant has been an inhibiting factor for easy flow of credit. The RBI Governor's assertion on exploring the modalities to meet the increased needs of the SME sector should give a fillip,'' she said.
