Airlines Air Sahara defers Chennai-KL flight Our Bureau
New Delhi , April 29 AIR Sahara has pushed back the launch of its daily flight on the Chennai-Kuala Lumpur sector to June 15. "We had to push back the launch as we need to have four sets of pilots for each aircraft. Having two back-to-back international launches was difficult. So the decision to delay the launch," the airline President, Mr Ronojoy Dutta, said. The airline had earlier planned to launch the flight in May. However, the airline will go ahead with the launch of the daily fight on the Delhi-Singapore sector from May 11. Jet Airways also had to push back the launch of its daily flight on the Chennai-Kuala Lumpur sector by a few days due to the late delivery of a new Boeing aircraft from Seattle. Air Sahara plans to induct another three Boeing 737 aircraft by June this year and is to set aside two of these six aircraft for its international operations. The airline has been given permission to operate regular flights to Sri Lanka, Nepal, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK and has approached the Government for permission to operate flights to Bangkok and Hong Kong also. Air Sahara has no immediate plans of imposing a surcharge on passengers travelling to Singapore.
