N. Narayanan new TN Chief Secy

Chennai , April 30

MR N. Narayanan, Development Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Finance), is Tamil Nadu's new Chief Secretary.

He succeeds Ms Lakshmi Pranesh, who retired from service.

A 1970 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Mr Narayanan, 57, has held various posts, including Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd.

Mr K. Gnanadesikan, who belongs to the 1982 IAS batch, takes over as the Finance Secretary. Ms Girija Vaidyanathan, Chairperson, Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, will take over as Secretary, Higher Education Department and will also be in charge of the School Education Department.

The Environment and Forests Secretary, Mr Surjit K. Chaudhary, will hold additional charge as the Chairman of Pollution Control Board.
