THE South India Small Spinners Association (Sisspa) is upset over the State electricity board slapping an increase in additional security deposit for high-tension (HT) power consumers.
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board's demand notice rising the additional security deposit for HT users from 45 days of average consumption to 60 days will put the textile industry, especially the small-scale textile spinning mills, into financial difficulties as this industry is a continuous running industry incurring huge power bills, said the Sisspa President, Mr K.R. Selvakumar, in a statement.
The board's demand notice for an upward revision in the additional security depot equivalent to 60 days of average power consumption effected from this month has come all of a sudden and HT consumers were not informed in advance on the revision in the security deposit, he added.
In a communication to the State Electricity Minister, Mr R. Viswanathan, the Sisspa President wanted the EB to maintain status quo in the matter.
