R.A.K. Ceramics' plan

HYDERABAD: R.A.K. Ceramics, the $350-million UAE-based tile manufacturer, plans to set up 40 exclusive showrooms called `Ceramic Library', across major cities in the country in the next 18 months.

The CEO of R.A.K. Ceramics, Dr Khater Massaad, launched one such Ceramic Library in Hyderabad, the second after Mumbai. The showroom, houses 30 concept bathrooms and the larges collection of ceramics under one roof.

Stating this, Mr Ulhas Jadhav the company's marketing head, here said the green field plant being set up at Peddapuram in Andhra Pradesh would be operational in September.

The tiles and sanitaryware manufacturing plant is coming up on a 204-acre land. It will have a capacity to produce 20,000 sq. metres per day of tiles and 2500 pieces per day of sanitaryware, he told newspersons today.

The UAE company has invested in excess of $40 million in this plant and hopes to generate direct employment to about 600. The company has discussed gas linkage with the Andhra Pradesh Government and hopes to get it on time.
