New Projects Italy's Bisazza plans capacity expansion Moumita Bakshi
New Delhi , May 4 ITALIAN glass mosaic company Bisazza is planning to ramp up capacity of its manufacturing facility in Kadi, near Ahmedabad, to one million square metres from the existing 400,000 square metres, in order to cater to a surge in demand in the domestic as well as overseas market. "By July we will be adding a capacity of 600,000 square metres per annum to our existing capacity of 400,000 square metres," Mr Valerio De Cao, Director, Export Sales of Bisazza S.p.A said here. The expansion of capacity would entail an investment of Rs 10 crore, which would be met through a mix of internal accruals and funding from the parent company. Bisazza has operations in China, the US, Spain, France, the UK, Germany, Russia, Australia and Korea amongst others, with major production facilities located in Italy and India. In India, it operates through a 100 per cent subsidiary Bisazza India Pvt Ltd. About 40 per cent of the total production in India plant is used for the domestic market consumption and balance is exported to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Nepal "The glass mosaic that we produce are used in bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools. The Indian market is expanding well, and last year, we witnessed a growth of 40 per cent. For this year, we are targeting a growth of 60 per cent. With the enhanced production capacity, we will target export markets such as the Europe, the US and Australia. We are also trying to get into Pakistan, Burma and Far East," Mr Jayanthi S. Ramlal, General Manager, Bisazza India, said. .
