Hyderabad , May 4

AT a time when several companies pay just nominal ex-gratia as per the statutory prescriptions to the bereaved families of their employees, Matrix Laboratories Ltd (MLL) has shown considerable care in supporting the families of eight of its staff members who died in a recent accident at one of its manufacturing facilities.

In recognition of the services rendered by the employees who were killed in the accident at Kazipally unit on March 5, the MLL management has extended an amount of Rs 6-lakh as ex-gratia to each of the families.

In addition, each family has received group personal accident (GPA) amounts up to Rs 10.4-lakh per person depending upon their experience and last drawn salary. The premium to the GPA was borne by the company.

Apart from this, the Matrix Employees Welfare Trust has donated an amount of Rs 10 lakh to the affected families. Out of this amount, every child received Rs 1 lakh each towards their educational expenses, the company said in a press release here on Wednesday.

Further, in an expression of solidarity with the members of the bereaved families, MLL employees have voluntarily contributed their one-day's salary amounting to Rs 7.39-lakh. The total benefit received by the families of eight employees passed away in the accident ranges from Rs 9.94 lakh to Rs 25.21 lakh.

The State Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr G. Vinod, has handed over the amounts to the bereaved families.
