Private Banks HDFC Bank plans more branches in Mumbai, Pune Our Bureau
Pune , May 5 HDFC Bank is planning to expand branch network. The bank, which has about 70 branches in Mumbai, would be making it one hundred by the year-end. Talking to newspersons, Mr Ajay Kelkar, Head-Marketing, HDFC Bank, said, "Pune would also see six new branches in different locations. Currently the bank has about 14 branches in the city. The bank is also planning to open up branches in Aurangabad, Nagpur, Ichalkaranji and Satara soon while other district of Jalna, Chandrapur, Solapur and Dhule would have branches in six months. The number of branches outside of Mumbai would be 50, he said. He said beefing up the credit and debit card segment was also being carried out by the bank, especially with its pilot project of InstaWonderz being kickstarted in Pune and Chennai. HDFC Bank has deployed over 43,000 EDC terminals across the country. He noted that about 300 merchant outlets had been roped in for the project. He said the bank has over 1.3 million credit card and nearly three million debit card customers. In Pune, the numbers stood at less than 50,000 andabout 2,25,000 respectively.
