Coke & Metalurgical Coke Rain Calcining profit, turnover down in Q4 Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 5 RAIN Calcining Ltd (RIL) expects a dent in performance during the next couple of quarters in view of certain snags detected in its power plant recently. For the quarter ended March 2005, the company suffered a fall both in turnover and net profit. On a turnover of Rs 82.75 crore, the company posted a net profit of Rs 4.91 crore compared with a turnover of Rs 85.6 crore and post-tax profit of Rs 9.27 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Though the company could record a growth in turnover for the fiscal ended March 2005, it suffered a fall in net profit. On a turnover of Rs 357.55 crore, the company posted a net profit of Rs 12 crore as against a turnover of Rs 325.29 crore and a net profit of Rs 33.59 crore in the previous fiscal. According to the RCL Managing Director, Mr N. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the snags were found when the company's power plant was shut down for scheduled maintenance and also synchronisation of the existing and new calcination plant in March 2005. During this stoppage, the company observed partial damage to the turbine rotor and immediately carried out an interim repair with the support of the equipment supplier.
