Fashion Amara exhibits luxury range of bed linen Our Bureau
Mr Raj Thiagarajan
Chennai , May 6 WHEN a majority of the textile industry is following the diktats of international fashion forecasters, Mr Raj Thiagarajan, a former banker, is going against the norm. He wants to set the trend. His first collection of designer bed linen called the `Secrets of the Earth' draws inspiration from Nature. In designing and colour coding his own brand of bed linen, Mr Thaigarajan "decided not to follow the herd.'' Mr Thiagarajan, also a sculptor, said that while on a visit to Sarawak for a workshop for sculptors, he was inspired by the rainforests of Borneo. Similarly, the colours of the hibiscus flowers and the blue waters of the Maldives have also inspired him. He visualised the concepts and designed themes, which were executed by Mr Rajesh Sunkara, in-house designer, he said. The Amara Linen Gallery, which he set up in an old Madras style bungalow in Adyar, exhibits a luxury range of bed linen.
A set of linen including a fitted sheet, flat sheet, duvet cover and a pair of pillowcases ranges between Rs 5,000 and Rs 15,000. The brand is now available at the stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.
