Gujarat Alkalies Q4 net doubles

GUJARAT Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) has announced a net profit of Rs 48.17 crore in the January-April 2005 quarter, compared with Rs 23.12 crore recorded in the last quarter of the previous financial year.

The company's turnover in the fourth quarter of 2004-05 stood at Rs 353.73 crore compared to Rs 270.61 crore in the similar period last year. On the annual basis, the Vadodara-based company has logged a net profit of Rs 144.28 crore in 2004-05, a sharp increase of Rs 81 crore over last year's figure of Rs 63.15 crore, according to the company's results announced.

Sales turnover on an annualised basis stood at Rs 1,278.49 crore in 2004-05 against Rs 1,071.63 crore in the previous year.

The company has announced a dividend of Rs 1.5 per share. GACL achieved a combined production level of 11.31 lakh tonnes of caustic soda and other products in the year under review, which was 8 per cent higher than 10.51 lakh tonnes last year.
