Tea Kochi tea sale sees fair demand Our Bureau
Kochi , May 8 A FAIR general demand persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Of the quantity of 11,30,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market was lower by Rs 2-5 and at times more particularly high-priced teas. Orthodox highgrowns were steady, while mediums and secondaries were dearer. As per the figures made available with Forbes, Ewart & Figgis Pvt Ltd, the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 52-62, medium CTC realised Rs 46-50 and below medium were quoted Rs 32-38. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices at Rs 120, while medium BOPD realised Rs 40-44. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 33-34. The leaf sale also witnessed a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 4,60,000 kg. The best quality Orthodox barely steady to easier, while others were lower by Rs 2-4. CTC's were also easier by Rs 1-2. Only few exporters operated on selected orthodox grades. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 53-80, medium Orthodox realised Rs 41-58. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 47-50, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 41-45. In the leaf category, Havukal BOPF realised the best prices of Rs 102 followed by Chamraj OP by Rs 98. In the dust varieties, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 120 followed by Pasuparai SRD by Rs 75.
