National Tech Day fete in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Institution of Engineers (India), Kerala State Centre, and the R&D Centre of Terumo Penpol will jointly celebrate National Technology Day from Monday to Wednesday.

Different competitions in poster-setting, elocution, quiz on science and technology, essay writing, paper presentation and exhibition of working models related to science and technology have been slated for Monday for school and college students.

A half-day seminar will be on May 11 (Wednesday), the National Technology Day. Mr C. Balagopal, Managing Director, Terumo Penpol, will deliver the keynote address on `Importance of technology development.' This will be followed by three technical presentations by Mr N. T. Nair (`Exciting careers in electronics), Dr C. R. Soman (`Meeting future challenges') and Mr Radhakrishnan (`Space aspects').

Among those expected to speak on the occasion are Mr N. Rajkumar, Honorary Secretary, and Mr N. Jayachandran, Chairman of the Kerala State Centre of the Institution of Engineers; Mr C. Padmakumar, Executive Director, Terumo Penpol; and Mr Aiyyappan, Managing Director, Hindustan Latex.
