Outlook SQC Global bullish on Kerala SMEs Vinson Kurian
Thiruvananthapuram , May 8 SOFTWARE Quality Center (SQC), a Bangalore-based boutique IT consulting services provider and partner company of Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University, maintains a bullish outlook on doing business in Kerala. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Krishnan Puthucode, Director, CEO, and SEI authorised Lead Assessor, said that the thriving small and medium enterprise (SME) segment in the State displayed "unmatched levels of awareness and enthusiasm" in its focus on international quality certifications. This has encouraged the company to speed up the process of setting up a base in the State, likely to be in Kochi, latest by the end of this year. It is also keen on working with local Universities to embed concepts of IT consulting services and management consulting as a curriculum. While continuing with the focus on SMEs, SQC performed its third CMMI assessment for SMEs in Kerala, a trend set off since the past one year. The Kochi-based Advanced Software Systems (Assyst) and Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram-based Gemini Software are the latest to get assessed at Level 3 of CMMI. According to Mr Puthucode, Gemini Software was a revealing case in that company' dedicated IT backend shops have started volunteering themselves to be guided by international quality certification norms without being pressured to do so by a domineering partner in the West.
