Rubber gains on panic buying, low arrivals

RUBBER prices continued to post moderate gains on Tuesday. Hectic buying from the covering groups was witnessed amidst meagre arrivals.

According to sources, most preferred to hold the stock expecting sheet rubber to touch Rs 65 a kg in near term.

Futures turned weak after opening firm, with May contract quoting at Rs 61.60 (Rs 61.75), June at Rs 62.46 (Rs 62.74), July at Rs 62.60 (Rs 63.16) and August contract at Rs 61.50 (Rs 61.93) a kg for RSS 4. Spot market rates a kg were: RSS 4: Rs 62 (Rs 61); RSS 5: Rs 60.50 (Rs 60); ungraded: Rs 60 (Rs 59.50); ISNR 20: Rs 59 (Rs 58.75); and latex 60%: Rs 40 (Rs 40)
