Prasad group offers new course in film making

THE Prasad group, one of Asia's largest players in post-production processing for the entertainment industry, has launched the L.V. Prasad Film & TV Academy in Chennai.

According to a press release from the company, the academy, in which international universities such as the Brooklyn University and Arcadia University are set to collaborate, will offer courses for film making and television producers. Among the courses offered will be a two-year full-time post-graduate diploma programme in film and television in four streams - direction, cinematography, sound recording and editing.

Quoting Mr K. Hariharan, Director, L.V. Prasad Film & TV Academy, the release said that Indian movies cater to a global audience, and the industry is rapidly adopting technology such as digital cinema. The academy will train filmmakers and television producers with international skills.

The academy will have multimedia classrooms, sound recording theatres, editing suites, shooting floors, auditorium, outdoor shooting equipment and a modern library.

Students will produce short films, documentaries, computerised animation and music videos as part of the course.

International universities would be sending students to the academy from 2007 under a students exchange programme, the release said.

Application forms are available on the Internet, www.prasadacademy.com. Classes are to commence on August 15.

The cost of the course will be Rs 2 lakh per year and the academy will consider offering scholarships. Bank loans will also be arranged for students, it said.
